Bought this phone because the specifications said it would withstand water up to 6 feet and other environmental hazards. Dropped it into a glass water and the face plate came unglued. Do not think a glass of water exceeds 6 feet. So, phone does not meet manufacture’s specification.
Do not buy if you expect to need a rugged phone.

My 2yr old motorola beats this thing hands down. Rugbys texting really really sucks, not user friendly very slow no auto complete as my old motorola had. It also has about half of the battery life of the old Motorola.
Oh ya while we are at it all of you ptt engineers out there fix the software so the ptt can be locked out! This does not take a genius to figure out that people want this option “my motorola sucked in this dept as well”.
As for a working mans phone why the heck isn’t the clock visible on the face when the phone is closed? Working guys don’t want to open up the phone to see what time it is!
Also the only case i could find is one of the nylon with velcro type cases which is huge. If i wanted a phone in a bag i would travel back to 1993 and get the big bag phone!
I will admit that after about 3 months I am getting used to this phone but it has not been an easy transition. The reason I chose this phone was due to the calandar function which i have found usefull but it has come at a heavy cost.

For reception, this is the worst phone I’ve ever had. I’ve had to go back to my cheap little temporary go-phone because the rugby phone fades in and out and has a tin cup sound to it on both receiving ends. Also it’s very inconvenient to have to open it to see the time. And god forbid you pause, the light stays on only 4 seconds and there’s no way to adjust. My battery goes down to one bar nightly even though it hasn’t been used at all. I’m very disatisfied with this purchase. Although it didn’t cost me anything per se – I signed up for a two year contract to get it for free. It’s not worth it. And I was informed that yes, they will refund my $.01 if I return it, but they will not exchange it. Further, I’m stuck with the ATT contract regardless.
Though I love Amazon for most things, I would highly recommend against buying a cell phone from Amazon. Now it looks like I need a new battery, the phone will not stay on. This is only day 5 and I’m ready to go buy a different phone from the local shop where I can return it or get tech support if needed.
This is a cool looking phone, hence the single star, but after reading about the weak glass display and the easily worn finish, I handle it very carefully. It’s just overall a bad deal even at 1 cent.

I bought the Rugby for my nineteen year old son for Christmas. Five days later he was hunting in a tree stand and the rugby slipped from his pocket as he bent to pull the gun sling up to the stand. It hit the rocks about twenty feet below. The outside screen was shattered and when he opened the phone, the inside screen was ruined as well. We called Samsung immediately and were told that the screen is not covered under the warranty. This phone does not stand up to what it is promoted as. I am so tired of paying for sub standard cell phones.

I bought this phone for its rugged specifications. I’m an active person (firefighter) and I thought I’d like some additional protection. The specs are nothing more than window dressing. The phone got wet, admittedly immersed, and failed.
When warranty work was sought, Samsung simply voided the warranty for the reason of “moisture.”
